24 Hours of Portuguese Food in Lisbon 🇵🇹 PERI PERI Chicken, RAMIRO's Seafood & More!

Video Overview & Insights

Welcome to the capital of Portugal : Lisbon! We have completely fallen in love with Portugal. Everything from the sights and history to the food and people, Portugal has it all! In today's episode we are going for 24 hours of non-stop eating Portuguese food in this incredible city!

Greetings from Tetouan, northern Morocco. I'm a chef specializing in international pastries. Welcome!

Sorry, mate. As soon as you used PERI PERI in your video title instead of Piri-Piri (which is what the Portuguese actually call it), I lost all interest in watching your video. Please get it right, for goodness sake. Even as a non-Portuguese in Portugal, I find this habit of food vloggers and lazy journalists (who may've visited a Nando's once) incredibly aggravating.

French people would say the same thing if you called Champagne something like Chimpeen. It really is pretty ignorant, which is not - I'm sure - what you intended.

Be aware that you're kinda visiting some tourist traps. Most of what you're showing here is available elsewhere and is better or cheaper (or both) in other places. It's also available anywhere in Portugal.

There is nothIng better than portuguese cuisine. You can say Italy, Spain, France, Greece, but the big difference is the variety, they have receipts for everything. Oh, and the pastery? Out of this world. Secular heritage.

I believe that the Piri-piri chicken is originally from Angola and not Mozambique.

I'm going to Portugal just for the cherry brandy with cinnamon and sugar (ginja). That looks heavenly. I think I would feel like I'm floating after 2 shots and I want to experience it so badly. I would consider draining my life savings for a few shots HAHA.

Sorry, but I don't eat pork or any red meat. Also, I'm not going there to eat sandwiches. Oh yeah, no veal, duck, bat, insects of any kind. 🤮

Just a supplement
I know Ç it's not common, but the sound it's the same as S
Like prasa
And it's the same as a square in America I guess, kinda
Praça was usually where people gathered for commerce that's why squares in Portugal are called praça
We have an expression "Vou á praça" means I'm going shopping (usually local market)

Hi Luke. Just heard you say that the pavement (called Calçadas) you were walking on in Praça do Rossio (sounding PRASSA)not praka.... anyway, the black and white calçada is NOT made of tiles, as you mentioned, are small hand cut stones, typically white limestone and black basalt.....
Hope you read this!!!!

It’s tricky to know when you’re not a local, but the true hidden gems where locals go are tascas, cheap with homely meals. Also try avoid menus with other languages and try go a little further out even if you have to walk up some hills, they’re worth it especially in old town region

Sure, Afonso has very good bifanas, but calling them legendary is a bit of a stretch. There are a lot of good bifanas in the whole country, even at a short distance of Afonso in the baixa district you can get very decent bifanas. Social media outlets irritate me immensely when it comes to this type of thing. It destroys everything. I'm not saying Afonsos bifanas are bad, quite on the contrary, but no sandwich with pork in it justifies a line of 30 meters or more. That's just BS! It's a freakin pork sandwich people! Come on! My luck is that I'm Portuguese and in Lisbon considered as a local so I can skip the line an order inside at the sidedoor...... (but that's a whole other story😅)

STAY away from the last chicken place that he mentioned - I just had such a horrible experience there. Chicken was tough and dry. They are stingy to give you any piri piri sauce. Service was horrible. They charged us for a tasteless fish dish(double the price of what I ordered) I didn’t order. No apology - giving me the attitude ‘paying or not going’ . Worst meal/experience h the rough out my trip - I wish you remove your review about it so people won’t fall in the tourist trap

Ginga is not the same as cherry, its flavor is rougher and more aggressive, which makes the drink have a different flavor from cherry.
