One point in the way of Ditto’s being a failed clone of Mew I’ve never heard anyone bring up before is the fact that Ditto can PHYSICALLY mimic other Pokémon, while Mew can, in a sense “spiritually” mimic them with his ability to learn any move: a bit of juxtaposition I’ve always enjoyed thinking about and don’t doubt was in some way intentional.

I wonder if the design of Pulseman may have inspired Armarouge/Ceruledge.

So one main thing ab the ditto thing is that mew is able to transform too 😅

I can't get over the fact that there is a connection between Pokémon and Peanuts. And it would have been awesome if the had just used clips of the Pokémon Adventures manga instead of some satirical nonsense. I always wondered where the idea of "fossil pokemon" came from. Who knew?

I find it interesting that Ken Sugimori would think that he drew the protaginist characters as "un-cool". Looking at all of them at 59:11, all of their styles seem so unique that as a kid and even now as a 28 year old lol I still find them endearing. I started with gen 2 so the jacket/shorts combo is sick and with gen 3 I always thought Brandon had white hair which again super cool. I guess we all have our own ideas of cool.

0:20 imo he was right, they made legends arceus. it had its problems sure, but aesthetically, and in terms of new and fun/interesting gameplay mechanics, legends arceus was probably the best entry in the series. music from that game is on my spotify playlists, the water color/painting art style and soft color tones used make it unique and beautiful, and being able to run around and see pokémon in the wild for the first time was incredible. unfortunately Z-A is a scarlett/violet clone with some “fun” new mechanics, and they will continue to make games that make no sense instead of expanding upon the existing IP and exploring/rediscovering what made those games so beloved.
