Previous to remote access era in any Ford the square key is for doors and engine, the oval one is for trunk and glove compartment

That thing rides pretty nice. Especially for a convertible from that era. Surprising and impressive. My brother had a 66 Mustang notchback right after High School. Love those cars.

The 289 cubic inch V8 was a 4.8 liter. Porsche's M28 V8 came in at 4664 cc's, which can be called a 286 cubic inch big block or a 4.7 liter. Follow the mathematical rules of rounding.

Nice........................But.........................My 65 2+2 went 210 kph, that is 130 miles per hour, on Hwy 1 in California, Ft Ord. RPM was at 6200 and REDLINE was 6500 with the valve springs she had. She was quick. With posi and good tires, she will still scare new cars, STOP light racing to 50 mph. ................ But, the brakes, SUCK. Upgrading the brakes is a MUST. Put the GT sway bar on the front.

I have a 1966 Mustang convertible 4 speed 289 C-code here in Switzerland basically all original. It's a true 66 export model with gauge in km's, 2.80-1 rear end and export brace. Only Mustangs built for Germany were tagged T-5 because of copyright. Top speed is listed at 200 and I've driven it at 180km/h with a bit of room left but I think his speedometre is off. I have stiffened up the suspension a bit (shocks, springs, bigger swaybar) otherwise I wouldn't feel safe at top speeds...only Germany has no limits and the rest of us are happy with 120-130km limits...I drive it regularly at 140 and even with the longer geared rear end the engine is turning like 3800 rpm...but what a sound! Heaven!

The insturment panel is not from a 66. That is 64 1/2 at the latest.

Sadly, I've gone as fast or faster in my 02' Hyundai XG350L and my 2019 Toyota Rav4 AWD Hybrid...but that Mustang sounds better. Engine and exhaust wise that is. My 02' has a pretty glorious sounding V6 with the exhaust setup I have on it (just an aftermarket replacement muffler and long pipe to the resonator from AP/Eastern. I then put on a true dual pipe muffler tip, and it sounds amazing! That car also handles very well..for a 3800lb semi-luxury four door FWD sedan. The suspension is all new too😁. I'll trade ya for that Mustang!

Did he at least test the drum brakes before he started? Those old cars you never knew what was going to fly off the car especially at these speeds.

He could snap that speedometer off without even trying. Not to many safety features so I wouldn’t recommend crashing one of these cars. At least he has a seatbelt.
