Back in 2008 I had a FB stalker, he showed up to one of my fitness classes and started acting bizarre. He said, I follow on FB and I play FarmVille with you. 😳 I paused my class and ran to get the gym manager, he was 86ed. He never tried to contact me again. I went home that day and put my account on private.

I’m a senior citizen for 5 years now but I’ve been on FB for at least 18 years. All the stories here are quite remarkable and informative in their lessons. I’m blessed to have never been involved in any of these incidents here but I think it’s because I tried to always to err on the side of being super cautious about being a FB user. There are rules I abide by consistently 1. I keep my FB ‘friends’ selective and tightly vetted. I don’t ever accept friends from strangers or even people. I know in the past without good hard reason why I should. 2. I never join groups. 3. I only post to ‘friends’ not the to the public. I never use labels, pejoratives, cursing, and swearings in my posts. I’m still opinionated but always try to be diplomatic and respectful. 4. If a friend posts controversial topics that I don’t agree with I just choose to ignore and leave them alone. 5. I never post my location my destination my personal activities or my social events. 6. My two favorite topics are my faith and my politics and I have a close enough number of people who I talk with who share my proclivities. So I never experienced having to argue with anyone on FB because of my abstract presence there.
So one must have their own personal ground rules in using social media in order to not get in trouble ever. But I’m glad to learn more from these stories. I also avoid shopping at the Marketplace because of horror stories I’ve heard there.

I've done it many times though and it' always went great, just meet in daylight and in public! Always make sure your not followed from the meeting spot by the seller or any other random car from that lot!
