17/07/2026 - Cloud lifting and breaking - Morning Weather Forecast UK– Met Office Weather

Video Overview & Insights

Areas of cloud across eastern counties receding, but lingering near North Sea coasts. Otherwise, a dry day with sunny spells. Another very warm day, locally hot in the southwest.

Was typically 29-30 deg C (from met office and rivate weather stations such as mine in Bodmin) over much of inland Cornwall and Devon on 16/7/26. Been faling since last week's peaks of over 30 deg C. Today around 28 deg C in Plymouth, Bodmin and Exeter etc. I suspect it will be higher than 26 deg C in the south and south west on Saturday 18/7/26, we'll see.

At last. Of course the South East will always be the last to get any genuine relief from the excessive heat and of course the South East will be the first to get slapped again when it returns.

Do all Highs in the North Atlantic rotate clockwise? I've been surprised to see this High doing that as I thought they usually rotate, in terms of wind direction, anti-clockwise. This one seems very unusual. And at least we have reasonable amount of breeze because of it.

26 degrees isn't 'at best' it's 'at most'. Please stop pretending 30c is 'amazing with lots of sunshine and clear blue skies' when we all know it's dreadful.

Clouds… she’s only joking

What exactly is the FAR north of Scotland? Is this different from the north of Scotland? Is it because you're English and it's so FAR from England? For crying out loud - just say "the north of Scotland". It's one less word to utter after all. 🙄

For the last TWO MONTHS, every weathermap shows storms, downpours, showers .... all the rain you could dream of. RIGHT OFF THE COAST.

It's as if theres a magic forcefield, protecting every square inch of British soil, from rain...

I don't normally like to comment on people's looks but that really is a fabulous asymmetrical neckline. I wonder if it mimics the weather? I wonder if I can find that dress?
