I'm a NYC actor who's been struggling, and I mean STRUGGLING, with the accents of the UK. We Americans mung it up so badly, so often, and I wanted to defeat that mediocrity. Then I found this video. You break it down so intelligently to a workable set of exercises. Thank you, Roy, for the effort you placed in this elegant presentation!!!!!

Chapters:

00:00 - Intro

Speaking as an English person and a linguist I think this is absolutely outstanding. So many things are covered and it is all so relevant and accurate. My congratulations. I am from the north east and speak with an 'educated Geordie' accent (make what you will of that) so this is not the way I speak myself but I would strongly recommend any learner to follow this advice.
Semi useless info for those interested in details. The one preposition that doesn't have a weak form is 'off'. You must never reduce the 'o' to a schwa ə in that word.
Also 'that' as a conjunction can be reduced to a weak form /ðət/ = I think that it's interesting.
But as a pronoun it must always be pronounced in full /ðat/ = I read that book.
So 'I think that that (ðət ðat) book is interesting.'

When you overstress some words to change the meaning, I think, it's the same in every language. 😉

As someone with a US PNW accent 1. I’m having a hard time hearing the difference in the forgot his wallet at the coffee shop sentence. Are my ears broke, or is our dialect similar here?
2. After taking in lots of British media and repeating what I hear, it seems that the tongue is further back and lower in British accents. Am I on to something?

When you're asking viewers to repeat a sentence after you, you might want to consider break up the sentence into one or two words at a time.
