16/07/2026 - Sunshine developing - Morning Weather Forecast UK– Met Office Weather

Video Overview & Insights

A band of low cloud will make for a cloudy start across parts of central and eastern Britain, with the cloud gradually retreating towards the coast through the morning. Elsewhere, sunshine will become increasingly widespread, although some cloud may linger across northwest Scotland and around North Sea coasts. Temperatures will rise quickly where the sun breaks through, with another very warm start to the day for many, while eastern coastal areas remain a little cooler under any stubborn cloud and onshore breezes. - This is the Met Office UK weather forecast for the morning of 16/07/2026. Bringing you today's forecast is Clare Nasir.

Widely 29-31 deg C across the SW of England today, a bit higher than forecast it seems. Plymouth Mount Batten, Exeter Airport, Chivenor, all around 30 deg C today, with multiple private stations in Cornwall and Devon (see the met office WOW website) recording 29-31 deg C. I recorded just under 31 deg C earlier today, as did the other one in Bodmin. Currently cooled a bit with 27-28 deg C in Plymouth and Exeter around 5pm. Cooled a lot in Bodmin, with a SE breeze, to about 25.1 deg C at 5:30pm, which feels a lot cooler than earlier.

At least they don't have maps like some that try to make us think we're living on a hot red planet when it's over 25 degrees.

Miserable in the north east. Those with blue skies count yourself lucky to have summer.

Last night was so hot and humid here on the coast in Hampshire, even opening the Windows didn't help until the early hours.

Thought it was raining from the north then realised it was arrows showing wind direction. Rats!

It's not too bad in the mornings at the moment, but the afternoon is still pretty unbearable! Thanks for the update.
