£15M Reverse Parts Production Line is Changing Car Recycling - Take a look at our Dismantling Line

Video Overview & Insights

Ever wondered how the UK's most advanced car recycling facility works?

What software do you have .

— @Marcel-sp5gr

In this episode, we take you behind the scenes at Charles Trent Ltd, home to the only reverse parts production line in the UK, designed to revolutionise the way end-of-life vehicles are dismantled. We take you on a tour down the line of how we take parts of end-of-life vehicles and insurance write-offs.

From the moment a car enters our state-of-the-art £15 million BH1 facility, every step of the process is carefully planned and executed. Our parts production facility has a reverse production line just like one you might see in a car manufacturing facility, where we are using lean manufacturing techniques to strip vehicles efficiently and sustainably. Our lines also have a depollution stage where we safely remove all fluids and hazardous materials.

You recycle thousands of cars, but on eBay very few parts are available specially for Japanese Import. I am searching yfor Prius part but didn't find it. How should I do it.

— @BilalAhmed-j4s3t

This groundbreaking system allows us to take a vehicle, dismantle it, process its high-quality green parts, and have them on the shelf and available for next-day delivery faster than ever before.

By buying certified recycled OEM parts, you’re not only saving money compared to new parts but also reducing CO₂ emissions and supporting a circular economy for the automotive industry.

I now understand why your service and quality of parts are always top notch. Always prefer to order from yourselves if possible as you always get what you are expecting in the condition advertised. Packaging always great too.

I couldn’t care less about the “green” aspect but why we crush some of the most reliable cars for some minor issues to buy new, complex shyt boxes that won’t last no matter how much money you throw at them, is absolutely absurd. That goes for the eu market as well as the states. 👌🫡🇺🇸🇬🇧

Interesting . hope it's a profitable business model and catchy on

Their prices are uncompetitive with regular junkyards. A Corporate model may appear great on a spreadsheet but not long term viable in the real world. Granted, some fools that will pay, yet most bodyshops and retail customers are looking for the best bargain constantly rather then getting ripped off.

Remembering the days when you went to the Scrappy & they were piled up 3-4 high in muddy rainswept yards now you type in the parts & they do the rest after you paid the shipping so why do I feel old when I look back to the old days🙄😄

Now this is great recycling and and more importantly reusing! Good job guys!

They dont pass any savings on to the customer it all bumps up their profits same as all these big businesses thats why food so expensive they're passing their overheads on to us wake up people

@busbuilduk1397

Time to expand the scope and rebuild some vehicles for the poorer markets, sure the economics must work but temporary assignment of for example some African entrepreneurs that are currently fixing real scrap to building with excess parts, a working car from that which is crushed.

Impressive, saving the planet, providing a lot of proper jobs for proper men, although it's a noisy working environment.

why is this country so far behind what other countries have been doing for years

This is amazing and wonderful. Hope it continues to grow and other countries that are big enough start their own dismantling factories

If someone wanted a specific part from a scrap car ( possibly even the same colour) do you have the ability to log that request and satisfy it when and if a match comes in?

@karencarpenter8275
@

Don't see much profit here for a £15mil investment, and now i understand why the 2nd hand part price has gone up online, so sometime better of buying a Chinese import, Sooner see the old scrap yards back where you could go and take the part off yourself. Also just wondering because this is GREEN is this subsidised by the Gov.

Brilliant to see vehicle recycling done properly! Have you started recycling EVs?

How much would you make on that scrap corsa

I can't tell you how good this makes me feel. Well done Charles Trent. I hope your business is making good money, you deserve it. I have a question about recycling engine oil or gearbox oil as it's so expensive to buy. So is there a way you can process it like you do with the petrol? I understand that cars are recommended to use all different grades of oil, so maybe not?

Used Charles Trent a few years back for a SEAT arona front ns door, they were very attentive at the parts counter

Great company to deal with !
Ordered a gearbox for a Nissan Qashqai and it was delivered the next morning 😊😊😊

Absolutely brilliant idea. I wish this company all the best.
I was surprised at the type of items removed for resale.
Interesting video, but I was a little distracted by the amount of “uh”s and “um”s in the narrative.

I love this, the innovation is good to see.

i remmeber you old yard in kirkby in ashfield notts, mates used to do security there years ago, crazy how things change, from selling whole cars to this ,very clever,

@leewright6101

Would love a complete mint interior for a Polo 9N... But that sort of stuff always gets scrapped. That corsa looks like it had a good interior, which has value to restorers.

@fredfred2363

The issue is when people are restoring older cars (20YO+) that insurance companies write off for the slightest dent or scratch.

The valuable parts are not the items you strip, but things like rubber fittings, glass, upholstery, instruments and small plastic fittings, clips and screws.

So cars like mk2/3/4/5 golfs, morris minors and older jags. Even Japanese cars have bits impossible to find.

The trend right now is that cars from early 90's to late 00's are increasing in value, significantly. Why? Because they are still relatively cheap to keep on the road and function and deliver a driving experience as good as new cars do.

Interesting video. Must have been a lot of work to set up this business model.

@fredfred2363

Do you keep the front and back windscreen

What other products could this concept be applied to? I wonder how long it will be before the UK begins adopting the idea of Japanese Zero Waste Centres?

Great video fantastic to see a company doing so much to resical material, however the frequency of "Um" being repeated so much was distracting.

I put this on LinkedIn and Facebook into soem large groups. Thsi idea needs to be global. Keep the old vehicles on the road as long as we can.
