Video Overview & Insights
War—what is it good for? Absolutely nothing. But that doesn’t mean we don’t need military bases. Even in times of peace, amazing feats are accomplished within these walls. Some are home to the fastest jets the world has ever seen, while others are hidden away in mountains like they were in a Bond film. And many of them don’t ever want to be found! So, join us for today’s video, where we countdown the top 15 amazing military bases in remote locations!
With #10, Eareckson AS, I served 16 months, 4 days and 12 hours on "The Rock" when it was Shemya AFB back in the early 1970's as an enlisted member of the US Army Security Agency. Interesting times. I would like to return for a short visit. A very SHORT visit...

Great selection, thank you. I received orders to Korea and chose retirement instead. My billeting office told me that if I withdrew my retirement for any reason there was an unfilled MI Officer billet at Diego Garcia that had my reservations confirmed. I've always heard Thule pronounced Too Lee. Wow Pine Gap and you showed picture of USASA Field Station Berlin.

@mrduplicityatlargekeep the bases ...UN is a joke
@DFWWARPIGS@ .23 Thule Greenland is pronounced Too Lee,
@mark9531Ya , ya ya 😆. Give us something new ❤
@theodorepatton887I was stationed on Diego Garcia , nice duty station.
@AllenChandler-jx2ufKeflavik Air Base is closed. Even though the U.S. still owns a portion of it. Its only used by NATO force temporarily.
@rohann7579If you screwed up, Toolee is where they threatened to send you if it happened again.....
@KenThomas-k9sI was in the third Seabee Battalion stationed on Diego Garcia in 1973 MCB74 and believe me it was no paradise. We worked 6 days a week in temps. of over 115 degrees and I was a welder making it even hotter. I was elated to leave!
@C2ownerbrought to U by Wiki-leaks and Chinese intelligence?
@bob_greeneThule airbase are closed in the moment the nazi president Trump are sword in, the people of greenland 🇬🇱 do not have anything to do with nazist
@jaytrxerMt.Yamantau핵대피시설있는곳에 푸틴의 별장도 있다는데 확인 가능 한지요? 위치는 산쪽으로 중간 정도 에 별도 도로가 나있는 끝에 위치합니다
@etchoi1017My father was the senior US Army Corps of Engineers/Nuclear Engineer officer in charge of the construction and stand-up of Nuclear Reactor SM-1A at Fort Greeley, the first nuclear reactor in North America. In his off hours, he taught his soldiers Russian since he was fluent, having learned the language through 4 years at West Point. He even told us about having to store specialized cold-weather rockets in the Officer's Club walk-in freezer to keep them from heating up when outside temperatures exceeded freezing. Lots of amazing stories about his time there in the 1960s.
Additionally, I am among very few Air Force personnel who have been TDY to Pine Gap. I, too, have some amazing and humorous stories of my lengthy visit there. The Australian people are wonderful hosts.
Lets profile the same base twice. Another stupid AI generated video that no one bothered to actually watch all the way through to do some basic grade school editing. amazing.....
@Rowski420The RCAF sent the US the Thule National Forest so maybe that is why they were hi-lighted but they also still use it when transiting to/from Alert.
@phillip1115Thule is pronounced too-lee
@brentanderson5931That’s a shame.. I did a TDY at Thule & Sondrestrom..Great experience.. we should keep both bases, and apologize to Greenland!
@tomjohnson7494Tooo Leee was used as a reference to send malcontents (assholios) for duty, when they were pointed out to the big boss. Usually a colonel or higher ranking officer would give the man a choice to apologize for his actions to whomever he offended, or get transferred to Thule. Worked good too. 🇺🇸🙏🙏👍👍👍👍 I do however, know if a POS E6 that made that trip and I was very happy to watch his departure. 👋👋
@daveblevins3322Santa thinking of trading in the reindeer for a C-130??
@biggiefitz6275Thule AFB is pronounced Too-Lee, not Thool.
@marshallpoe8087Thule Airbase will be closed 20 jan 2025, its a US base not a NATO base, that’s what the parliament of Greenland 🇬🇱 want it’s closed as Trump insults a proud person, vote in the parliament was 31 to 0 😂
@jaytrxerAside from the glaring error with Thule, why are you showing Alaska based radar shots and continuing to talk about Greenland?
@denali9449So funny that Thule is said in the video to be a US base, but, all the items that were shown actually onsite were Canadian.
@PracticalHomeLabsCamp Century was actually called Echo Base, Hoth. It was defended by a powerful ion cannon and squads of air speeders converted to operate in frigid conditions. It was discovered by the Galactic Empire, which quickly invaded Hoth forcing the evacuation and subsequent abandonment of the base. Many fled on TaunTauns but they eventualy froze to death or were eaten by the Wampa Clan.
@SCBMD2020I was stationed at Dugway Proving Grounds from 2012 - 2014. In 2014 all the Army personnel were transferred to Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland. Any questions?
@danielwatts9803Thule is pronounced "Too-lee"
@matty2timez708Surprisd at the mispronunciation of Thule, as in previous videos he's pronounced it correctly. Also, and I am sure Im going to sound like a broken record here, but... c'mon, CFB Alert!
@alyssinwilliams4570A friend just participated in a NASA climate study at Thule and spent four weeks up there. One of the other big dangers with the base is there is no fencing around the base, so polar bears are regular visitors. The entire base shuts down when a polar bear is found nearby. But he said it is a very interesting set-up they have there. The U.S. Air Force/Space Force runs all of the military operations up there, but since it is officially a Danish facility (Greenland belonging to the Kingdom of Denmark), Denmark handles all of the infrastructure. Danes run the recreation and fitness facilities as well as the large cafeteria on the base. He said it was an interesting and fun mix Danish and American culture up there.
@jsmith1746You pronouncing Thule wrong as the air force called it too-lee.
@kevinowens7378It is Too-Lee, not Thool.
@krmouldHow about the 800 US bases on NATO and other countries? Who relies on who?
@fw1421Charlie Sheen narrating?
@chrisb.1214How about spending time to learn how to pronounce Thule. Not TOOL, but Too-Lee. Who makes these things, 5th grade drop outs?
@johncapurso9313They are not secret!
@johncapurso9313Oh, YAY. Another military branch upon which to spread blame.
@nancycunningham4225I can tell you first hand that most of these pics and vids are total BS. The military is NOT going to disclose actual pics of the insides of these facilities. The government may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer BUT, they are not that stupid!!! At least I hope not!! LOL
@danduffy7974If these bases are so secret, why the fuck do we know about them lol SMH
@Who_datt_The Cold War was just getting started in 1951
@Michael-j4hThule has only white runways to keep the permafrost from thawing out.
@danhenderson8007You missed the White Sands Missile Range US Army Test and Evaluation Command. Remote, check. Underground, yes. Chemical weapons, you bet. Nuclear warheads, indeed. No visitors allowed.
@bwmcelyaThis is well borin 🥱
@CuthbertDibblei helped build the anti-ballistic missle silo in Ft Greely. the scale of the under ground concrete tunnels is astounding. the trenches dug 70+ft deep went fot miles.
@TheronAnderson-hy3lpAre these all supposed to be classified information??😂😂
@nobodynoonenowhere5609this is why USA wants to leave NATO. the other country really on USA to much thay dont pay there sure
