Las Vegas is an absolutely horrible place to live. It’s very expensive, very dangerous and there’s nothing to do for locals. It’s mostly low paying jobs. Many people have multiple jobs and may work 70-80 hours per week. You should also notice how many billboards are for accident attorneys. There’s a reason. Road rage is a daily occurrence. Crime is everywhere.

1987 was truly the last year!… That’s the year the mob lost full control completely… Then, 1993 was the very beginning of the end with The Dunes shutting down… That was the first major one on The Strip to go… after that, we saw the Sands, the Hacienda, the Desert Inn, the Aladdin and others leave us. Following that, you had bits and pieces still left in the early 2000s, such as the Stardust, Frontier, Riviera, Tropicana, Flamingo, and Sahara. 2006 we saw the Stardust go, then a few others followed. Then in 2015 when the Riviera was gone, and then in 2024 the Tropicana shut down, that was sadly pretty much it! The Flamingo is still there, and the Sahara is still there by way of a “happy accident” due to the SLS failing and the hotel being renamed “Sahara Las Vegas.” Caesars Palace and Circus Circus are still there too, but they came later in the 60s, whereas the aforementioned ones were the true OG’s from the 40s and 50s. Today it is corporate, sterile, charge for everything, nonsense. Not to mention, the new hotels look like freaking office buildings! Gone is the character, the charm, the unique identity, the free comp rooms, meals, upgrades, show tickets, parking,…and moreover; the dazzle! People cheered and made a spectacle when they blew up and demolished the old hotels. Now, the most popular shirts in Vegas are the ones with all the old LV hotel logos on them… I wonder why!? Seriously doubt you will ever see anyone wearing a shirt that says Cosmopolitan, Resorts World, Fontainebleau, Linqs, etc. The city may be big and impressive (I guess) still, but the DAZZLE is what’s gone! Really sad what happened to Vegas, especially The Strip!!!

Try driving from Aliante or Far North Las Vegas to Mountains Edge. Hour to an hour & 15 minutes. Its a real trek. 😮

True. There are charges for everything now.

@givensdebi683

North las vegas has the older neighborhood and the far north newer communities whichbis really beautiful. I must tell you, many people moved here from California, so it has changed, but it nice and new and the demographics have changed. Beautiful communities especially Tule Springs communities. Gorgeous. ❤

LV can never become a legit city...ever...It is so obvious that people notice the changes from LV's better time as now, comparing what it used to be to the current ridiculous time of LV charging scamming fraudulent resort fees and other ridiculous charges....It is about time for LV to be wound up and goes down as a history.

The Aces and Raiders did not open the door for pro sports in Vegas. The NHL and the Golden Knights did. ⚔️🏒🥅🏆

When I went home after my first trip ever to Vegas in the summer of 1994 I was sold on the idea of moving to Vegas..until I got home and my girlfriend at the time told me she would never move to Vegas..so here I am...still wanting to move there but I for sure missed the best time to move to Vegas back in the mid 90's.

Lived in Vegas from 93 until 2022..i remember the 99cent shrimp cocktails at the golden gate and the $4.99 steak dinner in the Binions lower cafe. Good deals to be had back then. Everything was cheaper. New houses for $120,000. Now.....all gone! Sometimes progress isnt a good thing.
