Video Overview & Insights
There was a time when American cinemagoers just couldn’t get enough of Asian movies. It should not come as a surprise to you, then, when we tell you that celebrated directors, from Quentin Tarantino to The Wachowskis, have all drawn inspiration from different genres of the Asian industry. Following the popularity of the VHS era, there happened to be a significant boom there. After all, the seeds that were embedded back in the 70s led to a flourishing gamut in the industry, especially in the 80s, marking the decade as the golden era of Asian cinema.
This list is awesome 👌!!!!!!!
While some might address the flicks as cheesy, you just cannot deny that they were also extremely fun to watch. No wonder these movies managed to find such a strong audience in the US! In today’s video, we are going to talk about ten over-the-top VHS era Asian movies spanning across different genres.
Zu Warriors is incredible, highly suggest pairing it with Time Bandits. BTW, that's the title by which it was known here when I rented it "for free" at a local video store. They'd gotten a hold of a bootleg copy but couldn't charge to rent it, so you had to rent another movie and they would let you "borrow" it ;)

@cringycook9597These all seem like fun movies to seek out, and I'll gladly do so--again adding to the never-ending list of movies I discover/rediscover on this channel. I wonder, was "Zu: Warriors From the Magic Mountain" inspiration for the 90s anime series "The Hakkenden"? There appears to be elements in that anime that were taken from that movie, based from what I heard in this video. Oh, and guys? For the love of little green apples. it's GEE-ger, not GAI-ger; the "I" in German is an "EE" sound.
@MaskedRiderChris"A Chinese Ghost Story" trilogy is amazing!
@thrraxI remember watching a movie kinda like In The Line of Duty , but instead of a plane it was a train and one of the guys is dressed like a samurai. After clearing each cart he slices thru the train doors to close it and awoman slices her face off . I wanna remember that movies name.
