10 KILLER Survival Fails

Video Overview & Insights

Greg is a self-taught survivalist from Canal Flats, British Colombia, who, since he was a boy, has read nearly every book on the topic. When he is not out in the wilderness, he is a professional dry-waller. He started his first bow drill fire when he was thirteen and spent the next forty years learning bushcraft and studying plants and edibles. He has even developed some of his own survival techniques and is a skilled hunter with both a bow and a slingshot.

Greg Do you not get orange dog berries in BC? They grow in bunches on a tall tree, taste bitter and sour but by God they make an amazing dogberry wine

Question, I had read in some article a while back,in article it said, if you want to find out if a plant is edible, rub it over your hand, if you don't get no itch, its edible, but if you get itchy , then its not, hope i wrote it clear, my english not so good, btw i asked Chatgpt and it confirmed it being true, but i really don't trust it

Salmon berry in orange , remind me or Swedish Hjotron ๐Ÿ˜ฎ don't know of they are family.

Similar leaves and look ,same rocky ground .
Is there also a marsh/swamp/quagmire near those places too?

Yes? Then they have exactly the same look and soil type and biome.

Hello Frank Gallagher

Hi Greg !

@trexy-m6s
@

Birds also can't taste capsaicin, so chilli plants have no effect on them. They also can't digest the seeds, so the capsaicin makes them crap out the undigested seeds, and that's how chilli plants spread in the wild

I'm trying to learn as much as I can before I start doing my survival challenges. Last thing I want is to die from a simple mistake. Thanks for this!

HELLO

@barryoverson4936
@

I hurd the moss on the north side of tree when I was a kid. By the time I was a teen I learned different. ๐Ÿ˜… Personaly I always know which way is north. There are many ways to know. The sun. The moon. Wind direction. Common sense really.
These folks getting lost in the wilderness is something I just don't understand.

@AllanBoyer-q7s
@

Why is it that an ungroomes slightly dirty appearance makes you seem so much more qualified to talk about survival.

@ianlaughlin85
@

niceeee

@FatalDoseFiles
@

Now let's be reasonable here. If moss grows all the way around the tree you can never get lost. If you just keep going around the tree you obviously know where you are ๐Ÿ˜‚

@jamieofalltrades536
@

Jokes aside I honestly cannot believe that people use the is it sweet method anymore because that has caused so many lost lives for absolutely no good reason

@UnnamedTrashPanda
@

The edge ๐Ÿฆ heh heh... edging

@UnnamedTrashPanda

I'm really not interested in eating wild berries b'cuz I'd take a full gallon of berries to make a dent, just not worth the risk when You've got rabbits, squirrels, hogs, deer, etc
But I'm very interested in any type of plants that repel insects! Like do the crunchy leafs of a Wax Myrtle repell ??

@roymimbs
