The track stand are you using your brake at all? I see the wheels rolling mostly so i assume not but are you using it if it starts rolling back or forward momentarily or is at all about shifting your weight and power? Btw your videos have been extremely helpful. I've been riding a few years but not many crazy trails, just easily to moderately easy 😄. Took a few years off during major health issues and when i got back on its like I've never ridden a bike before.

I just started. And i feel like im letting my bike eat to much. Like is there more I should do to limit impacts. Or can I just let it eat roots as long as im okay?

Cool video. I haven’t ridden bikes in about 20 years, and I literally never had anything above a box-store bike… Recently bought a somewhat entry level full-squish Trek MTB, and I’m having tons of fun learning skills. Was originally thinking of getting a hardtail, but opted to get a bike that I would grow into rather than growing out of. These newer bikes are so playful and confidence inspiring compared to anything I ever rode as a kid. I was delighted when I discovered the dropper post, and the full squish suspension that is properly tuned is mind blowing to me. First day I got my bike I rode it down a sketchy stair set just to test the suspension and it felt like I was riding on pillows. What an absolute blast these things are! Now I just need to work on my fundamentals and core mountain biking skills, so I appreciate videos like this a lot. Very informative and helpful! 🫡

As a MTB coach this video seems to be a bit intimidating and advanced for complete beginners. More for lower intermediate riders. Interesting though thanks for the entertainment:)

08:55 Ouh, front brake ;) Don't get me wrong, I am not criticising, I am trying to understand whether I should use this technique. Doesn't it make the manoeuvre a little bit more risky? as it takes a lot of technique to give right (and just enough) power to a break, meanwhile, any front brake decreases the available (options) control range of the wheel, especially at high speeds!

I started cycling, as a BMX rider, when I was 11, yet never tried MTB until now (I am 24), and I got my first 1000 km without watching any tutorials, so I could learn my preferences and style. Instinctively, I never thought to use the front brake and was always doing rear wheel lift with my feet (as on BMX) instead. My build even allows me to do somewhat of a bunny hop, as the rear triangle has slightly shorter chain stay, while the frame itself is 1 size smaller, as in dirt bike builds!

I just don't understand if front braking for rear wheel lift is safe in the mountains!

Unpopular opinion here after a fact. Skidding your back wheel as part or your riding style destroys the trail and makes you a bit of a dick.
