This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the evening of 08/07/2026.
Things I've noticed that happen in heatwaves now, that never used to happen;
1) when the heatwave is predicted in advance, it's always predicted as being cooler than it ends up being. Heatwaves are always warmer than the initial prediction.
2) London escapes the worst of the heat, especially towards the end of the heatwave. This never used to occur. Hottest areas tend to be the west and midlands.
3) A big stormy end of heatwave is far less common.

Could you explain strange trumpet sound in the atmosphere at all i hurd its something to do with compression of air high up in the atmosphere hurd it in leeds Yorkshire are last night and 3 nights ago very eary sound have the metoffice hurd about the phenomena.

@mythicalwanderer80Tell em to stop poping the sky full of pills to clear the clouds. Or its to create environment for people who are used to living in 35+ every day. @heldigtAtleast the heat experience matches the Arabian Peninsular or the Persian Gulf. But we need to adopt their culture where in such heat we are active at night.

@ScottishHenryThis is exhausting now. Even on the north Norfolk coast where we usually get a cool sea breeze in the evening providing some respite that's now gone, ready for some rain 🌧️
@prebu1ltThe biggest problem here in England is the houses. They were built to trap heat inside and keep it from escaping, since it’s practically always cold here except for a couple of months a year. Now, however, they’ve turned into ovens; even if you open the windows early in the morning, the moment you close them, the walls and floors radiate heat, turning the rooms into 30-degree ovens! So, even though this heatwave isn't as intense, the indoor temperatures are unbearable.
